Jerry Brown vs. Meg Whitman
After learning that a police group was considering endorsing Meg Whitman, one of Jerry Brown's staffords accused Whitman of being a "whore". Was this said because the news was a shock to Brown's team? It seems interesting to me because with this particular police group Whitman promised protection of their pensions, where as Brown promised little. So to say that response was appropriate is clearly wrong. That vile language should never be used in politics. While Brown apologized in the debate, Whitman answered no when asked if he had previously apologized which shows how little he cared on a personal level. As result of this slur though, Brown must fire any person on his staff who uses that derogatory language. So overall how has this incident effected the election? This incident has nothing to do with important issues that need to be addressed by future governors. If this incident has swayed many votes though, we must pay closer attention to how much of elections are based off of public perception rather than who is more fit by their actions and views..

i think that the fact that this is such big deal, is kind of shocking because it seems as though we shouldnt be worrying about what our candidates think about eachother, since obviosly we cant expect them to like eachother. we sould worry more about whether or not they will be good for our state.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that Brown had not apologized until the debate. Either he never got the chance to until then, or he wanted to do it publicly to make himself look good. I think it was probably that he wanted to make himself look good because it's not really that hard to make a private phone call. But I also agree that if this event is what a lot of people are basing their vote off of then I believe that people need to re-think why they're even voting.
ReplyDeletei agree with the why are you voting. Like obviously people are gunna be turned off by this but it shouldnt sway the vote too much and it doesnt make meg whitman a better person
ReplyDeleteI definatley agree with you when you say, who and what is a person really voting for. People should really know when it is just a petty insult, and its too bad that people get caught up the words people say instead of the things they do.
